The loss of a loved one is indeed a sad time for the people that were close to this person. Over the years I
have learnt to react differently to death. When someone that is close to me passes on, I do not get into a
depression or an inconsolable state. Quite the opposite, read through the following words of encouragement during
bereavement and they should be of some comfort to you.
One thing that you can think about is the fact that you were lucky enough to have known that person the way you
did. You can focus on the fact that you were given the opportunity to meet them and spend time with them. If it is
a family member you can thank God that you had such a great person in the family. Trust me; other families are not
so lucky. My words of encouragement during bereavement are; celebrate the moments of this
person’s life.
I am sure that is how that person would want to be remembered. I am sure they wouldn’t want you wallowing in
grief and disappointment. Think about that for a minute. If I had to pass on I would want my family to accept it
and move on with their lives. If I am dead, I am dead; no amount of crying will bring me back. Those would be my
words of encouragement during bereavement to them. Sounds like tough love, but letting go is the first step in the
healing process. You can also read through some of the material that is at this gift site. as well.
Whenever you feel down and remember this person, you will be able to find some inspirational and motivational
stuff there. I remember some of the words of encouragement during bereavement when my
mother passed away. Someone asked me, “How would your mother want you to live out the rest of your life now that
she is gone, go ahead and do just that.” Those are the words that I will leave with you as well.
When you get time you can also go to www.dailystrength.org. There are so many ways of handling a loss. You will
find some ideas on how you can go through this difficult time from here.
